studio a rama 2007
I designed the t-shirts for the event and they were a big hit. That made me awfully happy.
Oh...and if you ever get the chance to go see the Homostupids live...
don't.

There is something oddly soothing about making a wishlist on Amazon. I don't know why it makes me happy.
It must release some of the same endorphins that are released during actual purchases of things I don't really need. Not that I do that too often.
And I do need EVERYTHING on this list!! Really! I'm serious! Everything!!

Oh my god. A bonfire AND Jason Anderson. This is what I wish studio-A-rama really was like.
Jason Anderson has a new cd out called Tonight. I have heard a few tracks and highly recommend it!
Here is one of his new songs called July 4, 2004. I have a mad crush on it! Give it a chance.
You might swoon too.
sigh

Medicine
Just kidding. I really don't think a gin&tonic + a wheat beer is medicine. It did reduce the stress a bit though on Friday.
Dad is in nursing home rehab. He was doing good for a week but then he had some sort of problem that the nursing home thought was a stroke. They took him to the hospital. He was there for a day or two.
When I saw him at the hospital he said he hated "the sonavabitches" there. He wanted to come home. I had to tell him he was going back to Longmeadow. (the nursing home) He was not happy about that but seemed to understand. They took him back to Longmeadow on Thursday.
On Friday morning the nursing home called my mom and told her that my dad refuses to do therapy and told the staff that, "my son is coming to pick me up. I'm going home!" He wouldn't go back in his room. He sat in the hallway dressed. Waiting for Michael to pick him up.
Mom called me, I called my brother. He said he did not talk to dad that day.
A counselor went down to talk to dad. She told him that Mike was at work and could not come pick him up.
Dad said he would take a "goddamn cab" home. The counselor said that would be expensive because he couldn't leave Longmeadow unless the Dr. signed off on him. She told him without that signature, his insurance would not cover his stay.
Dad of course told her, "Go ahead , send the goddamn bill, I'm not paying it!"
They finally convinced him to do just a "little bit" of therapy. They had his favorite therapist, Tammie come to his room to convince him. He did a bit.
That evening Michael went to see dad. The whole time my dad kept telling Mike, "Grab my stuff, we can go out the door right outside my room." It is an emergency exit door.
Here's the deal. This is what pisses me off about the whole thing. Dad is NOT loopy. He is not out of it mentally. He is completely lucid. He knows he needs to stay there til he is able to even go to the bathroom by himself.
This is so hard on my mom. She has heart problems and I don't want all of dad's drama to do her in.
The first week dad was in Longmeadow he was doing really well. He was getting stronger. Moving more. And now he is a mess again. He can't even sit up in his bed without help.
He can't come home yet!
My sister Kelly and mom are going over there today to see him. I hope it goes okay.
Sorry for this long boring post. I promise more music and witty musings soon.

- Pick out all the pictures you want to show your friends.
- Okay. Now cut that stack in half.
- Now choose your top twenty photos from that stack.
- Now take out all the photos in that chosen stack that are of sunsets.
There you have it. An interesting 12 to 14 pictures of your latest adventure.
Upload the rest to a photo sharing website and if your friends and family really want to see more, they can do it on their own time and not put the rest of us through the tedious viewing.

After coffee with the guys this afternoon I went with Sharon to the Botanical Garden.
I had not been there since they redid the whole place. Oh... and started charging to get in now too. $7.50 for adults.
I have to say though, it was totally worth it. The Glass House exhibits were amazing. Little tropical birds and butterflies flitting about in the gorgeous and humid as hell garden.
Going outside and walking around the grounds was very calming and nice. I needed some "calming and nice" sort of activity.
After the Botanical Gardens we walked over to the "still under construction" Cleveland Museum of Art. There was a history of photography exhibit of sorts. My favorite photo was the Margaret Bourke White shot of Cleveland in 1928.
It was a view from W. 25th street. It was a smoggy beautiful picture of the Terminal Tower. Can something look "lush" AND "dirty" at the same time? It did.
After going thru the photography exhibit we went and sat outside in the soon to be destroyed courtyard. Sad. I really love how quiet and peaceful it is there. I am going to miss it.
I used to spend sad Sundays there about 10 years ago "journaling my rage." (An old Saturday Night Live joke phrase)

I thought that was hiliarious.
Hilarious and incorrect.
I could have flicked a feather and not hit the maybe 6 lesbians out of a couple hundred people watching the roller skating hotties that evening.
Not true.

I really am LOVING the new Electrelane cd called No Shouts No Calls.
I bought it this past weekend from Music Saves. It came with a SUPER cool
embroidered patch. I just love silly things like that. I need a coat to put it on. Maybe
I should just put it on a sweatshirt.
I really don't know how to attach embroidered
patches. I found something called"Patch Attach". I wonder if that would work?
I have a few other patches I would like to wear.
Oh my god. How old am I?
I would say it's a sort of "mid-life" crisis type thing... but I have always
loved this kind of thing.
I guess 40-something can look like me too. Not just like all the 40-somethings I have seen on tv, read about or met in my 4 decades of life.
By the way...here is the BEST song on the new Electrelane cd. At least
what I think is the best so far.
Cut and Run-Electrelane
Now go buy the cd and get the patch!

This morning at work, Tony handed me a cd review copy of the new Bitch cd.
She is now on Kill Rock Stars. Okay, that's one world.
The cd is produced by June Millington, there's the other world.

Wall of Death
I have decided to get out of the graphic design
business and devote my life to something that
really matters.
Something that I would really love.
I am going to do this.

Is this REALLY so wrong?
CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (AP) -- Six girls at a rural high school were charged with homicide conspiracy after their principal found a list of 300 names and officials discovered online postings suggesting they kill people, authorities said Thursday.
School officials said the list, discovered in a classroom trash can, mostly named students and faculty members but also included Tom Cruise, Oprah Winfrey and the Energizer Bunny.
Sequatchie County High School Principal Tommy Layne said that he initially considered it a joke, but that authorities then found the ninth-graders' online MySpace pages and postings that included the word "kill."
"In general terms, it was like, 'Let's kill these people,' " Dunlap Police Chief Clint Huth said. He declined to provide the specific wording on the posting, which has been removed.
"I am not saying we thwarted a shooting incident or an act of violence," Huth said. "On the other hand, had this gone unchecked, down the road it could have grown into something a whole lot more serious than a list of names."

Yes. Lame. That is me. I cannot believe how bad I have been about updates.
My last update was December 20th, today is January 23rd.
Things I have seen, heard, done since December 20th.
I saw a very cool exhibit at the Wexner center called Shiny. It is now gone.
I saw Team Gina at C-Space.
I saw Babel, Little Children, the first 6 episodes of L Word, season 4.
I have heard the new Shins album. (not thrilled..but give me some time)
I have heard tracks off a new compilation cd called A Date With John Waters. I LOVE the very first track called "Tonight You Belong to Me" by Patience & Prudence.
I have heard, via LeeAnn, Ursula Rucker doing the song "Poon Tang Clan. " The coolest most militant feminist I have heard in a long time. SUCH a breath of fresh air actually. I expect no less from LeeAnn.
I have done lots of freelance work.
I have completed many crossword puzzles. Something I NEVER thought I would enjoy.
I experienced the first Christmas celebration at my brothers new home. Very nice and very roomy. Loads of space for screaming kids to run around, unlike the old days at my parent's place.
I made a Kozmo ornament.
